End of Day 1

Wow, so much to talk about and thus why there have been so many posts today. After my adventuring and meeting more people I decided to take a cat nap and boy did it help a lot. An hour and a half later I was up and downstairs talking to our executive director about where another workers address since I was invited to the bat survey and everyone at the center was MIA. It's kind of weird waking up and everyone is gone! haha. Well, we chatted while a different worker was on her way to pick me up from the center and carpool me to the others house, and not only was I invited to this bat survey but now I have also been invited to a bird survey of sorts. I believe for Goshawk but I cannot 100% remember now. A different worker sometimes does Loon banding too so it would be awesome to do that as well! I also found out about a huge birding hot spot as well - Devil's Lake I think? If only I could remember the name now.... but so much information for one day involving wildlife. I love it. I absolutely love it. I'll get back to everyone on the name.

Anyway, tonight at the bat survey I got the chance to use the equipment. It was a receiver of sorts that picks up their frequency. Every time you got a bat it would literally sound like the thing was going nuts. It made a radio like sound or the black/white screen you used to get when changing channels on your TV. I never did ask what the equipment was called because I was asking a ton of other questions like - how do you get involved in conducting your own survey? Hoping to learn more so I can start doing my own survey of sorts. Hope to also learn more about Wisconsin and the species here as well. SO much to learn actually... this is going to be an amazing summer indeed.

Did I mention I watched 3 baby red squirrels get fed today? Adorable!

Need to hit the hay soon, gotta be up by 7am at least so I am ready to start the day at 8. I work in the rehabilitation portion of Northwoods these next few days but for now sleep. I will leave everyone with one thing....Spring Peepers are singing all over the place and it is 36 degrees out AND snowing. ISN'T THAT CRAZY!? Normally they start singing when its what - 50 degrees or better? Insanity and definitely shocked me.

Well, good night all and have a wonderful day tomorrow :)
